Mountain List

300 Famous Mountains of Japan

75 peaks

Selected by the Japanese Alpine Club in 1978, the Sanbyaku-meizan extends the canon further. This page covers the 100 peaks that appear on the 300 list but not on the 100 or 200 — the regionally beloved summits and quieter classics.

It is the next layer for hikers who want to travel deeper into Japan's mountain geography, with strong local character from Hokkaidō down to Kyūshū. Useful both as a long-term completionist project and as a doorway into a specific region's mountain culture.
