YAMATOMO is a social networking app for everyone who enjoys mountains. Whether you're into hiking, trail running, climbing, or skiing—connect with fellow mountain enthusiasts, create and join communities, plan activities, and chat to share information. Make Yamatomo (mountain friends) and enjoy the mountains together.
Base Camp is a permanent community space for each mountain. Once you join, you stay a member and can participate anytime. Each Base Camp has organized channels—General, Weather & Conditions, Find Companions, Mountain Photos, and date-specific channels for coordinating same-day hikes. You auto-join a mountain's Base Camp when you're nearby. Free plan users can join up to 3 Base Camps per month; Premium members have unlimited access.
Communities let you create and organize mountain activity plans and groups, and recruit members. You can create various types of communities for day hikes, trail running, climbing, camping, skiing, and more. Free plan: 1 creation and 3 joins per month; Premium members: unlimited.
You can DM (direct message) users who are your Yamatomo (friends). When you join a community, group chat is also available. You can send text messages, photos, and reactions.
Yes, you can send up to 4 photos per message. This is available in DM, group chat, community chat, and Base Camp. Tap the photo icon to the left of the send button to select photos.
You can add emoji reactions to messages. Tap the smile icon next to a message and select your preferred emoji.
In community chat, you can reply to specific messages in a thread format. Tap a message to open the reply view, keeping conversations organized by topic.
Launch the app and sign up with your Apple ID, Google account, or email address. After signing up, set your nickname and profile information.
Go to My Page and tap the "Edit Profile" button. You can set your nickname, introduction, profile photo, hiking experience, favorite mountain types, and more.
By submitting an ID document for identity verification, a verified badge will appear on your profile. This increases trust from other users and enables more comfortable interactions. Apply from "Identity Verification" in Settings.
If you hold mountain guide qualifications, you can submit your certification to earn a guide verification badge. Access the application page from "Are you a guide?" in Settings.
Premium members enjoy the following benefits:

・ Unlimited community creation and joining (free plan: 1 creation and 3 joins/month)
・ Album feature for high-quality photo sharing
・ Priority access to future new features
Tap "Premium Membership" in Settings to view plan details and the subscription screen. Payment is processed through the payment method linked to your Apple ID.
Go to iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → YAMATOMO to cancel. After cancellation, you can continue using Premium features until the end of the current billing period.
Please check the following steps:
1. Go to iPhone Settings → Notifications → YAMATOMO to confirm notifications are enabled
2. In the YAMATOMO app Settings → Notification Settings, confirm each notification type is turned on
3. Check if you've muted notifications for specific communities or groups
If the issue persists after checking the above, try closing and restarting the app.
You can mute notifications from each chat room's settings. Access the mute settings from the menu in the top right corner of the chat screen.
You can report from the "Report" button on the user's profile screen. You can also report chat messages and communities from their respective screens. Reports are reviewed by our team and handled appropriately.
Select the user from your Yamatomo list and tap "Remove Yamatomo" on their profile screen. Please note that removing a friend will also delete your DM chat history.
You can block from the user's profile screen. When blocked, you won't appear in each other's search results and messaging will be disabled.
You can request account deletion from Settings on My Page. Deleting your account will permanently remove all data including profile information, chat history, and community data. This action cannot be undone.
